It's all in the details...

When it comes to 2020 bridal trends we’ve seen a definite shift away from last years’ Royal Wedding inspired looks.

All those classic styles are there, and still going strong, but 2020 is all about adding a fresh interpretation to otherwise traditional styles.

Lace gowns have seen an update with more emphasis being given to 3D floral details, linear braiding and graphic cording. Re-inventing lace is an almost impossible task; but nobody has done it better than Aire Barcelona with their ‘Nidia’ gown. We love the combination of its clean-cut plunge neckline and semi-sheer bodice with scalloped braiding. The shaped detailing really makes the style stand out from the crowd!

Beading is also on its way back up with linear details again coming to the forefront. From beaded straps and backs to all-over detailing, it’s hard to find anything that we don’t love about this trend! ‘Elaine’ from Maggie Sottero perfectly encapsulates it all. We’re already head over heels for her diamond patterning and subtle shimmer… perfect for adding a touch of glam to any Big Day! She can even be ordered in black for any bride that dares to be different!

And speaking of shimmer… we’ve seen a lot of designs this season implementing subtle under layers of sparkle to add more depth and dimension to many a gown. This is often combined with other big trends such as splits (Hello, Essense of Australia’s D2840!), detachable trains and voluminous tulle layers. Is there such a thing as “too much” when it comes to bridal? We think not!

Blue by Enzoani’s ‘Mirinda’ gown shows how this subtle sparkle combined with other 2020 trends is just the icing on an already amazing cake! The sparkle works so well with the floral lace and plunge neckline. Just imagine it on a light-up dance floor!

Bridesmaids haven’t been forgotten, either! We all know that velvet is back in a big way for this year; and we’ve already seen this trickling through in designs from Sorella Vita. Hints of velvet and linear details have added a definite modern twist to classic bridesmaid designs!

We can’t wait to see what else 2020 has in store for us!

If you’ve felt inspired by the stripped-back simplicity of some of last years’ celebrity bridal looks then do we have some great news for you!

2019 is shaping up for a return of classic simplicity in a big way. With designers creating styles using crepes, Mikado satins and plain laces it’s becoming easier than ever to find something chic that still retains a modern edge.

Designers like Essense of Australia have been pairing clean-cut materials with bardot necklines and amazing train details for an added twist; as well as the ever-popular plunge front and pockets which never go wrong!

Others like Blue by Enzoani and Aire Barcelona are also teaming up understated fabrics with laces and illusion details which put their gowns a step apart from the rest.

Bridesmaids can also take inspiration from the likes of Sorella Vita – who’s Mikado, chiffon and stretch jersey styles add the perfect accompaniment to any bridal look.
